Rosanne Cash to Receive Edward MacDowell Medal

Rosanne Cash has been selected as the recipient for the 61st Edward MacDowell Medal, a prize awarded to an artist who has made an outstanding contribution to American culture. Cash’s award-winning compositions, performances, songwriting, books and essays certainly do not fall short of such criteria.

“To be included in a list with Aaron Copeland, Eudora Welty, Toni Morrison, and so many more distinguished artists, is beyond my imagining,” said Cash. “I do not place myself in any way equal, but I accept this honor with deepest gratitude, as an encouragement to do my best work, and in the service of future inspiration. My heart is full with this precious recognition.”

The MacDowell Colony has postponed the annual Medal Day ceremony, which will be deferred until August 2021.
