To wrap up 2024, Boston Globe music writers compiled their 50 favorite albums of the year; Kyshona’s Legacy being one of them.
Victoria Wasylak writes, “A marvel of respect, research, and roots, Kyshona’s April album, “Legacy,” is where care meets family lore. The Nashville artist cradles five generations — culled straight from The Smithsonian Institute’s National Museum of African American History & Culture — and her own stories within this blues-streaked labor of love. Kyshona fits figures from across her lineage into 16 tracks, yet “Legacy” never feels compressed. Quite the opposite; it’s an expansive tribute whose soul-stirring melodies resurrect the past with striking clarity.”
The list also features Beyonce, Billie Eilish, Charli XCX, The Cure, Kendrick Lamar, and Lainey Wilson. Read the full article here.
