Joe Troop Fights for USPS Funding with Song

Joe Troop of Che Apalache’s new song “A Plea to the US Government to Fully Fund the Postal Service” quickly gained praise for its pressing request. The song is part of ruralorganizing.org’s mission to fund the USPS entirely by way of petition signage and donations.

The Nation’s John Nichols reminisces about legend Woody Guthrie’s pursuit in “comfort(ing) disturbed people and disturb(ing) the comfortable” through his folk music. The same can be seen in the work of Joe Troop, “topical and specific, like the best songs by Guthrie and his compatriots in the 1930s and 1940s,” as Nichols describes it. Suffice it to say that Troop’s activism never sleeps, even while tucked away in his native of North Carolina.
