Amythyst Kiah turned heads Friday at AmericanaFest 2019 with a performance she judged as the favorite of her career. Kiah informed the audience of the new record she will be releasing next year. She dominated the stage at Station Inn that night. Nashville Scene noted she showed off “her dynamic vocal prowess and range as a songwriter, with loud rock tunes and quiet, haunting acoustic folk songs.” Towards the end of her set, Kiah surprised the crowd by bringing sisters from Our Native Daughters onstage, Layla McCalla and Rhiannon Giddens.
“The standing ovation that followed lasted at least a minute, and if Kiah wanted to, the crowd would have let her play another hour,” NS reports.
