Ruthie Foster will be releasing her new album Joy Comes Back with special guests Derek Trucks, bassist Willie Weeks (Bowie, Clapton, George Harrison) and drumming legend Joe Vitale (Crosby, Stills & Nash; the Eagles) on March 24, 2017. In it are ten incredible tracks, which are by a diverse array of writers ranging from Mississippi John Hurt, Sean Staples and Grace Pettis (daughter of renowned folk singer Pierce Pettis), to Chris Stapleton and Black Sabbath. Yes, Black Sabbath: Foster reimagines “War Pigs” as a jam session with Son House. She also covers the Four Tops’ “Loving You Is Sweeter Than Ever,” written by Ivy Jo Hunter and Stevie Wonder.
Her last three releases each received GRAMMY nominations and are critically acclaimed. Ruthie Foster also won the Koko Taylor Award, honoring notable female blues artists, in the Blues Music Awards in 2013 and 2015. Ruthie’s career also reaches beyond her own releases and performances. She has collaborated on stage with artists ranging from Bonnie Raitt to The Allman Brothers to Susan Tedeschi, and has recorded tracks with Warren Haynes, Big Head Todd, and The Blind Boys of Alabama, among others. Ruthie has also been featured as an actress with a guest appearance on NBC’s television series Revolution and as a classical vocalist with Austin’s prestigious vocal ensemble Conspirare.
