CNN Features Jimmie Dale Gilmore and Dave Alvin Collaboration on “Downey to Lubbock”

Friends of 30 years, Jimmie Dale Gilmore and Dave Alvin have only just begun playing music with each other. The two musicians’ friendship sprouted when they both frequented Ash Grove, a Los Angeles club many years ago. In all the years of their friendship, they hadn’t thought to collaborate musically until they started a project together last year. Gilmore and Alvin are currently touring and promoting their new collaboration album Downey to Lubbock. The duo describe their musical chemistry as “cosmic”, and have pursued their common roots of American country, folk and bluegrass genres on their new LP.
